乳房超音波検診 日本から世界への発信 ―J-START―

超音波乳がん検診の死亡率減少効果に対する科学的根拠は存在しない。「乳がん検診における超音波検査の有効性を検証するための比較試験:J-START」は我が国初の大規模なランダム化比較試験であると同時に世界で初めてのRCTである。超音波検査の意義に関するエビデンスを創出できるものと期待されている。
Ultrasonography has the potential to depict early breast cancers not seen on mammography. However, randomized controlled trials (RCTs), cohort studies, or case-control studies have not been completed to assess the efficacy of screening ultrasonography to reduce breast cancer mortality, and the effectiveness has not been verified. The Japan Strategic Anticancer Randomized Trial (J-START) was the
first large-scale RCT to verify the quality and effectiveness of ultrasonography for breast cancer screening in women aged 40-49 years. J-START would give an influential evidence for breast cancer screening for younger women.
