乳癌の確定診断のためには針生検による細胞学的、あるいは病理学的診断が必須であり、乳癌においては特殊染色による浸潤の有無の鑑別、サブタイプ分類による薬物療法方針の決定が可能である。画像診断法、特に超音波を穿刺ガイドとして用いることで正確な穿刺が可能となり、診断精度を向上することができる。
Needle Biopsies (Fine needle aspiration, Core needle biopsy,Mammotome) are inevitable to obtain a definitive diagnosis of breast disease. The accuracy of the biopsy will be improved using Ultrasound as a guide of puncture. Sufficient amount of material from mammary gland bring a differential diagnosis of non-invasive or invasive cancer,and important information regarding the expression of Hormone Receptors, overexpression of HER2 protein, percentage of Ki67 positive cancer cells. Thus, strategy of the treatment will be decided according to these reliable biological analyses. Needle biopsies should be done under Breast Imagings.
