通常型の診断用カテーテルから挿入可能なプロキシマル・サイドホール・マイクロバルーンカテーテルが開発された。バルーン拡張時にバルーン直前の側孔から薬液あるいは300μm以下の球状塞栓物質が注入可能である。特にHCCのTACEに際して挿入困難な側枝から動注、塞栓を行う場合に有用である。
The proximal side-hole microballoon catheter which can be inserted from a usual diagnostic catheter was developed. During inflation of the microballoon, solution or small spherical embolic materials （0.3mm or smaller） can be injected from a side-hole just proximal to the microballoon on the microcatheter. It is particularly useful for TACE of HCC when interventional radiologists intend to inject anti-cancer agents or embolization materials from a fine side branch of a hepatic artery which is difficult to cannulate.
